Maria Full of Grace (Spanish title: María llena eres de gracia, lit. "Maria, you are full of grace") is a 2004 joint Colombian-American drama film written and directed by Joshua Marston which deals in about a pregnant Colombian teenager becomes a drug mule to make some desperately needed money for her family.

 

 

 

Highlights :

•  Catalina Sandino Moreno prepared for her role by working in a Colombian flower plantation for two weeks cutting roses. She did not meet with real drug mules because she wanted to appear to be as clueless to the process and the consequences as Maria was.  
 
• Catalina Sandino Moreno did not practice swallowing pellets during rehearsals. Since the character of Maria did not know how to swallow them, Moreno and Joshua Marston agreed that it would be more realistic for her to try swallowing them for the first time on-camera. The pellets were made of easily digestible substances but neither Moreno nor Marston will reveal what exactly they were made of.

Parents need to know that this beautiful, Oscar-nominated Iranian film is both a fascinating story of contemporary Iran and a universal coming-of-age tale. Because this is set in Iran, the characters speak Farsi, which makes this problematic for younger viewers, but for everyone else, Children of Heaven is a wonderful film about a family doing their best to pull together in spite of great financial difficulty. Some minor scuffles and accidents are the only minor concern.

Run Lola Run (1988)

 

Run Lola Run (German: Lola rennt, literally Lola Runs) is a 1998 German film, written and directed by Tom Tykwer and starring Franka Potente as Lola and Moritz Bleibtreu as Manni. story follows a woman who needs to obtain 100,000 German marks (50,984 Euro) in 20 minutes to save her boyfriend's life.

 

Highlights :

• During shooting, Franka Potente could not wash her hair for seven weeks because the red hair color was very sensitive to water and would have got lighter with every washing
• This film contains about 1581 transitions (edits, dissolves, fades, wipes, etc) in 71 minutes of action (i.e. excluding the credits, and pre-credits sequence). This equates to an Average Shot Length of about 2.7 seconds. Interestingly, the editing is relatively slower towards the end of the film. For most contemporary films, the opposite is the norm.
• There are many spirals in the film (stair cases, bar behind phone booth etc). This is because director Tom Tykwer was a fan of 'Alfred Hitchcock''s Vertigo.

Bicycle Theives (1948)

 

Bicycle Thieves (Italian: Ladri di biciclette), also known as The Bicycle Thief, is director Vittorio De Sica's 1948 story of a poor father searching post-World War II Rome for his stolen bicycle, without which he will lose the job which was to be the salvation of his young family.

 

Hightlights:

The actors in the film were all amateurs. Vittorio De Sica decided not to use professionals.

 

For his cast, Vittorio De Sica chose a factory fitter who had brought his son along for an audition as his male lead. His lead actress was a journalist who had approached him for an interview, while the young boy was filled by a child spotted in the crowd watching the filming.

 

Vittorio De Sica claimed he selected the actors for the characters of both Bruno and Antonio because of their walks.

OLDBOY 2003

Oldboy is a 2003 South Korean mystery thiller film directed by Park Chan-wook.The film follows the story of one Oh Dae-su, who is locked in a hotel room for 15 years without knowing his captor's motives. When he is finally released, Dae-su finds himself still trapped in a web of conspiracy and violence. His own quest for vengeance becomes tied in with romance when he falls for an attractive sushi chef.

Highlights :
The corridor fight scene took seventeen takes in three days to perfect and was one continuous take; there was no editing of any sort except for the knife that was stabbed in Oh Dae-su's back, which was computer-generated imagery.

The octopus being eaten alive was not computer-generated; four were used during the making of this scene. Actor Choi Min-sik, a Buddhist, said a prayer for each one. It should also be noted that the eating of live octopuses as a delicacy exists in East Asia, although it is usually cut, not eaten whole.

It is completely up to each individual viewer to interpret what is unshown.
